The Department of Telemedicine & Biomedical Informatics at AIIMS Rishikesh is a leading center for digital health innovation, dedicated to bridging the gap between healthcare and technology. Established with a mission to enhance accessibility and quality of medical care through technology-driven solutions. The department integrates telemedicine, biomedical informatics, and artificial intelligence into the delivery of healthcare.
Key initiatives include teleconsultation services connecting expert clinicians with patients across remote and underserved regions, tele-education programs for capacity building and continuous medical learning, and the development of AI-enabled diagnostic and decision-support systems. The department also explores advanced technologies such as drone-based drug delivery and remote health monitoring to strengthen India’s healthcare network. Through its combined focus on clinical service delivery, research, and education, the Department is committed to driving digital transformation in healthcare and advancing the vision of equitable, technology-enabled access to medical care for all.

At the Telemedicine and Biomedical Informatics Department at AIIMS Rishikesh, we are using technology to bridge the gap between advanced healthcare and remote areas. Our department serves as a hub for innovation, education, and service delivery, integrating digital health technology, teleconsultation, and data-driven research to improve patient care and accessibility. Our initiatives extend beyond the hospital's boundaries through several advanced facilities. The department is utilizing Telemedicine Vans (sponsored by ONGC) equipped with the necessary tools to conduct medical camps in remote and underserved areas, enabling real-time consultations with specialists from AIIMS Rishikesh. Further expanding its services, the Telemedicine Department is utilizing drone technology to rapidly deliver essential medicines, vaccines, and diagnostic samples, ensuring timely healthcare support in remote and challenging areas. Additionally, the department's services include a helicopter ambulance service that facilitates rapid emergency response and patient transfer from remote areas, further strengthening our mission of providing `accessible and efficient healthcare delivery. Through continuous innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and community outreach, the Department of Telemedicine and Biomedical Informatics is committed to realizing a vision of equitable, technology-enabled healthcare for all.
